Twenty indigent patients received surgical assistance on goiter through Manila Doctors Hospital’s (MDH) medical-surgical mission, Goiter Ends Today through Surgery (GETS). The mission was held on August 18 and September 8.
GETS is one of MDHs’ annual medical-surgical missions that provide surgical assistance to the underprivileged and under served members of the society.
Headed by the Department of Surgery, in coordination with the Corporate Social Responsibility Department and other medical units, GETS provides surgeries to deserving under served patients who have either benign or cancerous growths of the thyroid. MDH has been holding the mission for 10 years.
The beneficiaries, whose ages ranged from 20 to 57 years old, were chosen based upon intensive screening by the Department of Surgery and Corporate Social Responsibility Department to ensure that the least privileged members of the society are given the best medical care. The medical mission is being supported by MDH and the Metrobank Foundation.
