Driven by the commitment to make healthcare accessible to the marginalized and underserved communities in the country, Manila Doctors Hospital, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Occidental Mindoro headed by Governor Eduardo Gadiano, organized its first on-site Multi-Specialty Medical Mission in the province last October 24-46, 2022.
35 volunteers from MDH composed of 17 doctors, 10 nurses, four (4) pharmacists, and four (4) Facilities Management Department (FMD) personnel joined the medical mission to provide the healthcare needs of the province, which is still currently heavily dependent on its only existing Level 1 hospital, the Occidental Mindoro Provincial Hospital. Two mission sites were deployed, one in Mamburao which catered to the residents in the municipalities of MAPSA (Mamburao, Paluan, Sta. Cruz, and Abra de Ilog) in the Northern Part, while the other site is in San Jose catering to the residents of the municipalities of SAMARICA (Sablayan, San Jose, Magsaysay, Rizal, and Calintaan) in the South. A total of 1,340 patients (662 in the Mamburao area and 678 in the San Jose area) received medical attention, including the 392 patients who will be transported to MDH in 2023 for major surgical procedures.
