True to its thrust and pursuit of maintaining quality healthcare and continuous performance improvement, Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH) bagged major recognitions at the two-day 27th Annual Convention of the Philippine Society for Quality in Healthcare (PSQua) at the Century Park Hotel, November 17-18, 2022.
PSQua’s 25th Annual Search for the Most Outstanding Quality Improvement Studies recognizes MDH’s entry Project LATCH or Learning Attributes Tailored on Child’s Health Improvement & Nurturing Growth: A Latching Study on Primigravida Mothers as Gold Awardee. This project, a multi-disciplinary entry from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Anesthesiology, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Nursing 3F, Outpatient Department (OPD), Corporate Social Responsibility Office (CSRO), and Obstetrics and Gynecology Complex (OGC), highlights the hospital’s mother-baby friendly initiatives. Project LATCH also bagged the First Place for the 11th Continuous Quality Improvement Poster Contest. Meanwhile, the Silver Award goes to another MDH entry, Revitalizing Approaches in Improving Self-Efficacy of New Nurses, a project of the Human Resources Directorate and Nursing Service Directorate.

Accepting the awards on behalf of the hospital, Dr. Bernadette Hogar-Manlapat, Head of the Quality, Safety and Risk Management Office, reiterates MDH’s commitment in ensuring the quality of healthcare the hospital provides to the community. “Manila Doctors Hospital is a core hospital of the PSQua, and since its inception in 1995, we continuously provide innovative research studies and initiatives that will advance the practice of healthcare in the country”, she added.
MDH physician to spearhead PSQua for 2023-2024
This year’s PSQua Convention also marks the return of the on-site convention after two virtual conferences. Robust convention topics ranging from pandemic-related issues to Universal Healthcare in the Philippines left an enlightening discussion tackled by the healthcare decision-makers and stakeholders alike. Meanwhile, Hogar-Manlapat was also re-elected as the President of the organization for 2023-2024. She also served as its President from 2018-2020.
