Cardiac Rehabilitation
Recovery is a journey
Cardiac Rehabilitation is under the Preventive Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Unit. The unit is supervised by cardiologists and a specially trained rehab team. The unit offers physician-directed cardiac rehabilitation with progressive exercise programs to help and guide patients to recover fully from a heart attack, coronary angioplasty, coronary bypass surgery, heart failure, peripheral artery disease, or other serious cardiac events in a safe and comfortable environment. Programs involve a multidisciplinary intervention to address secondary prevention of cardiac-related events. Physical therapists and nurses supervise and monitor the patient’s exercise progress to ensure the safety and efficacy of the rehabilitation program.
Aside from medically supervised exercises, Cardiac Rehab provides psychological evaluation and treatment, education and information on the risk factors, and lifestyle intervention including nutrition, smoking cessation, and medication adherence to aid in the patient’s journey toward recovery. The goal is to empower patients to live healthy life and lower their risk of heart disease.
